Organization Mission: To promote the social, educational, and
cultural history of South Charleston and Kanawha Valley. To collect,
preserve, and make available important artifacts relating to
its culture and history. Founded 1989.
Area of Interest: History of S. Charleston and the Kanawha Valley
Facility: South Charleston Museum -
Newly restored Art Deco-era theatre, which seats 300, housing
both the Museum and the South Charleston CVB
Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-4:30pm, archives available by
appointment only, Saturday hours by special arrangement
Admission Fee: $1 suggested donation for general exhibitions.
Film events generally $2, special events vary
Directions: East/West-use I-64, exit 56 (Montrose) to MacCorkle
Avenue SW (Rt. 60); from MacCorkle turn left onto 4th Avenue
and then left onto D Street; North/South-use I-77 or I-79,
connect with I-64 West in Charleston to exit 56
