Organization Mission: To foster and promote development of
humanities programs around the state through direct programs
developed by the council and grants to a variety of organizations.
Founded 1974.
Area of Interest: Humanities disciplines, including history,
ethics, philosophy, etc
Facility: MacFarland-Hubbard House
1836 Greek Revival House with National Register of Historic
Places designation
Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, and as needed for programs
Directions: 1300 block of Kanawha Boulevard, East, beside
Charleston Eye and Ear Clinic
Board Meets: Three times annually
Membership Fee: Donation
Programs: History Alive!, grants, minigrants, exhibits, various
programs as developed around the state
Special Events: McCreight Lecture in the Humanities, Little
Lecture Series, West Virginia Book Festival, and Food for
Thought Dinner
